We are a welding robot manufacturer. We recently undertook a project for automated ship plate welding for a shipyard. We developed a specialized ship robotic welding production line for 5-10mm thick plates. Through extensive process testing and analysis, we have developed laser hybrid welding processes for various ship plate thicknesses. We have reliably achieved single-sided and double-sided weld formation for tailored 5-10mm ship plates, as well as double-sided T-shaped welds. No pre-welding grooves are required, resulting in full, beautiful, uniform welds without defects and high weld strength, meeting classification society welding quality standards. We have also obtained the laser arc hybrid welding process specifications and process database for medium and thick ship plate.
Research has shown that the adoption of laser arc hybrid welding technology in a robotic welding production line for ships significantly reduces plate welding distortion. Without considering pre-set reverse deformation, the distortion for 5mm plate tailor welding is 0.3mm/m, and for 10mm plate tailor welding is only 0.7mm/m. In contrast, when MAG welding is used for the same thickness, the distortion for 5mm plate tailor welding reaches 1.0mm/m, and for 10mm plate tailor welding, it reaches 3mm/m. Furthermore, the use of a robotic welding station can achieve welding efficiency five times that of traditional welding. For welds of the same thickness, joint type, and length, laser hybrid welding requires far less wire than traditional welding, as it eliminates the need for beveling. Given the complex and demanding nature of shipbuilding welding processes, employing a robotic welding station for all processes can save at least 30% in costs and half the time required for each shipbuilding operation.
Our company currently has several pilot production platforms for 10,000-watt fiber laser robotic welding stations, enabling high-quality, efficient laser welding of medium-thick plates ranging from 5 to 20 mm. Compared to traditional welding, these stations offer significant advantages in weld quality, deformation control, welding efficiency, and cost savings. Laser welding using robotic welding stations is not only used in shipbuilding but also in welding and manufacturing construction machinery and mining machinery.
As a welding robot manufacturer, we leverage our powerful laser processing equipment platform and extensive process expertise to provide customers across various industries with the most cost-effective medium-thick plate welding solutions.
